Agustin nieto caballero

Agustin Nieto Caballero born in Bogota on August 17, 1889. Nieto he was a wellknown leader who changed the history of education in the country. He graduated in law in 1912 at the University of Paris, the next four years he studied philosophy, sociology, and educational sciences at the Sorbona and at the College of France. 

 Agustin Nieto founded the Gymnasium in 1914 and launched educational mechanisms such as school excursions, manual work, discipline of trust and active teaching methods, breaking with the traditional scheme, but fulfilling his pedagogical ideal. in creating the Modern Gymnasium, he collaborated simultaneously in national educational reforms; organized the School Funds, created in 1915, with the aim of ensuring breakfast and providing clothing to lowincome children who attended public school,

 In 1928 she founded the Women's Gymnasium, in order to contribute to a change in the landscape of women's education in Colombia. 

He joined the Ministry of Education in 1931 and represented Colombia in the League of Nations and in different international conferences of Education. In 1932, he held the position of Managing director l of Education and developed the work of National Inspector of Education, where he had the opportunity to travel throughout the country knowing directly the situation of the different schools, and in turn, he was able to dialogue with teachers and students. 

 his recognition as an educator and his hard social work led him to become the rector of the national university of Colombia from 1938 to 1941, At the end of his career at the National University, he again represented his country, occupying during 1942 and 1943, the position of ambassador of Colombia in Chile, and thus, he continued for some years giving lectures and classes in different cities of Europe and America, until he was appointed Principal Member of the Higher Council of Education in 1947, group in which he fought to give unity to the whole of Colombian education, 

In January 1955 he participated as guest of honor of the Pan American Union, of the seminar of Second Teaching, gathered in Santiago de Chile; and in 1958, he joined as Delegate of Colombia, the Intergovernmental Committee for the Study of Primary Education in Latin America, where he was appointed its president. 

the Republic of France awarded him in 1970 the academic palms for his contribution in the field of education and in 1973 he was awarded the order caro y cuervo, 

 Finally, Agustín Nieto Caballero died in Bogotá, on Novembe 3, 1975
